What Is a Fantasy Sports Points Calculator?

Fantasy football, basketball and other fantasy sports leagues turn real-world player stats into points using a scoring table your league sets up before the season. This calculator lets you plug in a player's stat line and your league's exact point values per category, so you can see a total score without waiting on the app to update or manually adding up a spreadsheet.

It's especially useful for comparing two potential lineup swaps, checking projections against custom scoring rules, or settling scoring disputes with league mates.

How to Read Your Results

Total Fantasy Points

The full score for this player under the point values you entered — the sum of every category's contribution, minus any turnover penalty.

Passing Points

Passing yards multiplied by your league's per-yard value, plus passing touchdowns multiplied by their point value.

Rush/Receiving Points

Combined rushing and receiving yards and touchdowns, each multiplied by their assigned point values.

Reception Points

Receptions multiplied by your league's PPR (points-per-reception) value — 0 in standard leagues, 0.5 in half-PPR, or 1 in full-PPR leagues.

Turnover Penalty

Interceptions and lost fumbles multiplied by the points your league deducts per turnover, shown as a negative adjustment to the total.

Real-World Example

A quarterback throws for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns, adds 60 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown, and throws 1 interception, in a standard league (0.04 pts/pass yard, 4 pts/pass TD, 0.1 pts/rush yard, 6 pts/rush TD, −2 pts/turnover).

CategoryStatPoints
Passing yards250 × 0.0410.00
Passing TDs2 × 48.00
Rushing yards60 × 0.16.00
Rushing TDs1 × 66.00
Interceptions1 × −2−2.00
Total28.00

That's a strong fantasy performance for a quarterback — the two-touchdown, one-turnover game nets a solid 28 points under standard scoring.

Tips for Fantasy Scoring

  • Always confirm your league's exact settings before comparing scores — PPR value alone can swing pass-catcher rankings dramatically.
  • Run each roster player separately, then add the totals to get your full lineup score.
  • Watch bonus thresholds some leagues add — like extra points for 100-yard rushing games — which this calculator doesn't include by default.
  • Compare projections vs. actuals after games to fine-tune which stat categories tend to swing your team's score most.
