What Is a Payload Percentage Calculator?
This calculator compares the actual measured weight in an articulated dump truck's bed against the manufacturer's rated payload capacity, expressing the result as a percentage. Fleet and site managers use this number, averaged over many haul cycles, to balance productivity against equipment wear and safety limits.
Loading below capacity wastes fuel and cycle time per ton hauled. Loading meaningfully above the rated limit accelerates wear on tires, the frame, suspension and driveline, and can void warranty coverage or violate site safety rules.

Payload Utilization
The core number: actual load weight as a percentage of rated capacity. 100% means the truck is loaded exactly to its rated limit.
Load Status
A quick read on where this load falls: under 90% is underloaded, 90–100% is treated as an optimal target range, 100–110% is a slight overload worth reviewing, and above 110% is flagged as overloaded.
Amount Over / Under Rated
The raw weight difference between the actual load and the rated capacity — positive means over the rated limit, negative means under it.
Remaining Capacity
How much more weight, in the same units, could still be added before reaching the rated capacity (shown as zero once the truck is at or over its rated limit).

- Track payload percentage across a full shift, not just one bucket pass, since a single reading can be misleading.
