What Is a Wood Glue Coverage Calculator?
Running out of glue mid-clamp-up is a real problem — glue starts to skin over and set within minutes of opening the bottle. This calculator estimates exactly how much glue a glue-up will consume, based on the surface area of your joints, your application method, and whether you're coating one or both mating surfaces, so you can measure out enough before you start.

Tips for a Strong Glue-Up
- Dry-fit everything first and stage your clamps before you open the glue bottle.
- Coat both mating surfaces for the strongest, most consistent bond on long-grain joints.
- Aim for light, even squeeze-out along the whole joint — starved glue lines are a common cause of failure.
- Wipe excess squeeze-out after it turns rubbery, not while it's still wet, to avoid smearing it into the pores.
